This right here is a visual reminder of why I do not miss living in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Don’t get me wrong, I had a great time when I lived in Arlington, except for all the times I was stuck at a standstill in traffic.

Much of the reason why I couldn’t get used to the traffic is that I grew up in a small town with a population of about 12,000 people. Traffic is never, ever, ever an issue in a town of that size. It’s rarely ever an issue here in Wichita Falls, which is almost ten times that size.

Why DFW Driving Feels Like a Military Drill

But I also think a lot of my disdain for traffic has to do with my time spent in the U.S. Navy. If you know anything about the military, you know there’s a whole lot of “hurry up and wait” going on. To this day, I can’t stand to wait in line for anything. I’m as impatient as it gets.

But if sitting in a traffic jam on a Monday night like the one shown in the video below doesn't bother you, there’s a lot of cool stuff to do in DFW. Not to mention, there are some great restaurants in the area. Just don’t get in any hurry trying to get to them.
