Here’s A New Place to Fish for Rainbow Trout In Texas
There's a new hot spot for catching rainbow trout in Texas. The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department has stocked the recently renovated duck pond at Riverside Park in Victoria, Texas with 1,000 rainbow trout.
The duck pond can be fished year-round and has other fish species like catfish and bluegill.
Duck pond fishing regulations
The duck pond is governed by TPWD regulations for community fishing lakes:
- Only pole-and-line fishing is permitted (no net fishing).
- Anglers may keep no more than five fish per day.
- There is no size limit for rainbow trout or any of the fish species currently in the duck pond.
- Residents should only keep fish that they intend to use. Unwanted fish should be released. It is illegal to discard unwanted fish.
- A fishing license is required for all anglers 17 or older and adults accompanying an angler under 17.
- Wade fishing is not allowed at the duck pond.
Fishing regulations are enforced by the Texas Game Wardens. To report a violation, call 800-792-GAME (4263).
