If you have received multiple texts about your toll bill you are not alone in Texas. Yes, it is frustrating. If you have a toll tag, like a lot of us do, you may take a second and worry. You can worry all you want.

Just Don't Do One Thing With These Toll Tag Texts

Whatever you do make sure you do NOT click on the link in the text. That one click to verify will start you on a long process of trying to get back your payment or information. If you travel to larger cities, like Dallas, you may be worried.

If you have a toll tag you may worried that you don't have enough money in your account and click on it. If you don't have an account you worry that you owe and want to fix that.

I travel a lot to Dallas since I have family there. I have a toll tag on my car. I have an account and it is supposed to automatically put more money on my account. What if it doesn't?

TXDOT warns that they will never send a text requesting payment. Never. Remember that. You may get a letter in the mail. That is quite normal. That letter will show your car and license plate so you know that it is in fact you.

You will not receive some random text. It seems that text has been going around crazy recently. I received three separate texts recently.

I did, exactly what I was supposed to do with this text, I deleted it. Never click on that link. They send it out multiple times and in mass quantities, hoping somebody will fall for it. I am sure there are plenty that have.

A text like this is not official. It is not the way most toll companies do business. Just delete it and go on with your day. If you have any questions think about where you may have traveled on a toll road and contact them.

If you haven't been anywhere consider yourself lucky and know to just delete and go on.
