“Get a Second Job” – Rep. Pat Fallon Draws Boos in Texas Over Social Security [VIDEO]
At a Town Hall in Bonham, Texas, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, Congressman Pat Fallon (R-TX4) offered a blunt solution to younger Americans worried about the future of Social Security:
“If you want to retire, work two jobs.”
That comment came during a tense exchange while Fallon was defending Elon Musk and the role of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—a controversial agency that’s already made deep cuts to federal programs.
Fallon insisted Social Security wasn’t being cut:
“No one has said that they’re cutting Social Security.”
To which a constituent quickly shot back:
“Elon says it every day.”
Fallon tried to correct the record:
“Elon has not said he is…”
The room erupted in boos and detracting statements, with Fallon adding,
“And I don’t think he said that. I never heard him say that. I have not heard him say that once.”
He then doubled down on how to “fix” Social Security:
“So the way we fix Social Security, one of the ways is to tell young people: ‘You’re going to get a different deal.’ So you give them 40 or 50 years notice so they…can get a second job.”
From that point on, the town hall only got more heated.
Fallon took the stage nearly an hour late to talk about DOGE, Musk, and government reform, but many in the crowd were there to ask about real-world consequences—including cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans’ services.
When Fallon suggested that cuts to the VA budget might actually “help veterans,” the crowd responded with a bunch of boos and laughter.
Later, when asked about a specific program that had been cut by DOGE, Fallon admitted he wasn’t familiar with it. Audience members shouted questions, and several were actually removed by law enforcement.
Asked if he had a message for families impacted by the cuts, Fallon dismissed the controversy as “growing pains.”
From confusion about program cuts to defending an unelected tech billionaire running a federal department, Fallon’s performance left many constituents frustrated—and some furious.
