Another Major Drug Bust Hits Amarillo Bus Station
One of the more eventful places in Amarillo seems to be the Greyhound bus station. Sure, it's always great for people watching because you've got all sorts of different walks of life getting on and off that bus.
Sitting on a bus for hours and hours can also agitate the most calm and serene person, so seeing reactions when they come off that bus is always a good time. It's also one of the best places in the city to watch a drug bust go down.

The Rich History Of Drug Busts
For whatever reason, drug dealers and smugglers seem to think the safest way to transport drugs across the country is by hopping on the bus. Now, I have no doubt that many get away with it, considering it seems to be done often.
The Amarillo bus station, though, is NOT where you want to try to push through some drugs. The amount of busts at the station is staggering, and it's almost as if police know it's coming.

The Latest Drug Bust At The Amarillo Bus Station
Just ask Jermichael Dandre Gills, who is the latest person to be charged with drug offenses at the bus station, and his case is not a small one. It's such a large amount that he's been hit with federal charges in relation to it.
A report on August 31 shows a canine alerted an officer to narcotics in the luggage area. The canine went to a black suitcase and they searched the bag. Once they knew the contents, they placed it back in the luggage storage area, then Gills grabbed the bag.
How Much Was Inside The Bag
This is the staggering number. There were 15 bundles of meth inside the bag, and a bag of what police believed to be cocaine inside the bag. Street value of the drugs? Approximately $1.5 MILLION.
Gills admitted to knowing there were drugs inside the suitcase, but was unaware of what and how much. He mentioned he was transporting them from Arizona to Indiana, and also mentioned this was already his second trip.
That was enough for police to hit him with a possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine charge.
