Texas Cities Lead Surge in GLP-1 Weight Loss Drug Searches

It's all the rage in the United States, and there are plenty of people who've taken advantage of the benefits this trend can provide. My wife and I know of a few people just here in Amarillo who have taken advantage of this, and there are PLENTY in Texas doing the same.

I'm talking about the obsession right now with GLP-1. Everyone is talking about it, checking their insurance to see if they can qualify for it, and if they don't, looking for other ways to get it in their hands on the cheap.

What Is GLP-1

It's the weight loss drug everyone is jumping all over. It works fast and efficiently. The makers of Ozempic initially said that's not what the medication was supposed to be used for, once people realized it helped them lose weight quickly.

However, it seems they, along with others, have embraced what it has become, and many people are taking advantage of the benefits of them.

Texas Is Searching For The Weight Loss Drugs

Over the last year, the increase in searches for the GLP-1 drugs has exploded, and Texas is all over the top 100 when it comes to Google searches for them.

In the past year, Austin checked in at number 18 overall in searches per 100,000 residents. Dallas fell in right behind them at 19, Arlington found its way in at number 21, and Houston rounds it out at number 22.

What Texas Cities Have Seen The Largest Increase In Searches

It seems Laredo is the city REALLY trying to hunt it down, as they checked in at number seven on the list with an increase in searches of over 25%. Other cities that made the top 100 in increases included El Paso with an increase in searches by 22%, San Antonio hitting the list with a 17% increase, and Arlington checking in with a 9% increase.
