Texas Hunters Gear Up for What Could Be the Best Waterfowl Season Yet
In a state as large as Texas, there are a lot of different activities and hobbies one can have. The best part is that no matter what those interests are, there is SOMEWHERE you can go in our great state to enjoy them.
One of the more popular activities and hobbies in Texas is hunting. People will ditch work for a week when hunting season opens. It's a form of religion here, in essence, and not any one thing in particular. We just love our hunting here in Texas.
A New Hunting Season Is About To Begin
We're reaching the time in Texas where it is starting to cool off, which means the hunting landscape changes a bit. The cooler months bring on waterfowl hunting season, and it's gearing up to get started.
Last year, it was a relatively strong season for waterfowl hunting, but conditions this summer are priming up this season to be one of the best yet in Texas.
What To Expect From Waterfowl Hunting Season
A couple of different things have a tendency to lead to a strong waterfowl season, and those conditions were met this summer. Above-average rainfall is the first thing, as all the moisture and precipitation are a huge boost in drawing the waterfowl in.
Secondly, the population numbers are pretty abundant because of the precipitation, and that makes it more entertaining since there should be plenty to hunt.
Which Duck Species Are Expected To Be High
This is where hunters are going to get excited, because all the species hunters love should be plentiful this season.
According to biologists, species such as pintails, redheads, teal, gadwall, shovelers, and wigeon showed an increase in population and should be plentiful throughout the entire season. The seasons will start kicking off on November 1.
