How Many Epic Battles Have the Texans and Chargers Had

This year only one NFL team from Texas will make the playoffs & that is the Houston Texans. The AFC South are the 4th seed going into the playoffs and they will face off against the Los Angeles Chargers, the 5th seed in the AFC playoffs.

A look back at the Houston Texans/Los Angeles Chargers rivalry

The first time these two teams played each other was during their inaugural season in 2002 during week 2. At the time the Chargers were still in San Diego; the Texans would travel to San Diego and lose 3-24. The Texans would lose their next 3 match ups in 2004, 2007 & 2010.

The Texans would get their face win over the Chargers in the first game of the 2013 season; they would win 31-28. That would be one of the teams only wins that season; they would finish the season off with a 2-14 record.

The two teams would meet up again in 2016; the Chargers would win that game, 21-13. This would be the last time the Texans played the Chargers while they were in San Diego before they moved to Los Angeles. The Texans would play the (now) Los Angeles Chargers in 2019 during Week 3 and win 27-20.

The Texans would get their first home win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 16 during the 2021 season; they would win 30-16. The last time the Chargers and Texans played was during Week 4 in the 2022 season; the Chargers would win in Houston, 34-24. In total these two teams have played 9 games against each other; Chargers won 6 times and the Texans won 3 times.

This will be the very first time the Chargers & Texans will play each other in the post season. We shall see how the Texans do in the playoffs over these next few weeks.
