This Texas City May Soon Be Getting First Snow Day of The Season
El Paso, WINTER IS COMING!!..... Or at least it might be coming, finally!
This week, El Pasoans are basking in calm, dry, and above-average temperatures, with highs in the mid to upper 60s. But don’t let today’s comfortable weather fool you—next week is bringing a chilly twist.
According to the El Paso Weather Service, starting Sunday, a dry northwest flow will nudge temperatures down 5 to 10 degrees, but the real action arrives midweek.
A cold front will sweep through Wednesday and Thursday, plunging temperatures below freezing and bringing a mix of rain and even a hint of snow to the Borderland. Yup, you read that right, SNOW! But don’t expect a winter wonderland or for the city to shut down.
While precipitation probabilities are still low (20-30%), a trace of snow could grace both the mountains and lowlands.
As we brace for El Paso’s first freeze of the season, experts are urging residents to winter-proof their homes:
El Paso Water Officials recommends insulating outdoor pipes, disconnecting garden hoses, and wrapping exposed plumbing with towels and duct tape in a pinch. Don’t forget to let faucets drip slightly to avoid freezing—but only as a last resort.
If disaster strikes and a pipe bursts, knowing where your water meter is and how to shut it off is critical. Tools are available at local hardware stores, and El Paso Water offers assistance programs to help with repair costs.
Stay proactive, bundle up, and keep an eye on those weather updates. Whether it’s a light dusting or a full freeze, winter is making its presence known in the Sun City. Stay safe, El Paso!
