KILGORE -- Kilgore has met little resistance so far in the 2013 season, and that trend continued Friday night.

The Bulldogs, playing at home for just the second time this year, landed some big blows early on against Bullard. Kilgore put up 35 points in the first quarter and went on to win, 49-7.

The Bulldogs are blessed with a deep and talented backfield, and put it on display against Bullard. Kevrin Justice, a junior, scored on the first play from scrimmage, a 59-yard touchdown.

After Kilgore's defense forced a punt, the Bulldogs were back in the end zone quickly. Quarterback Xavier Gaona jump-started the drive with a 56-yard pass to Aaron Foy. "JuJu" Brown bolstered the drive with a 25-yard run down to Bullard's 7-yard-line, and Justice scored from 6 yards out two plays later.

A second defensive stop led to another Bullard punt, and then Kilgore scored yet again. Brown gained 30 yards right out of the gate on first down, and three plays later, Gaona scored on a 6-yard run.

Christian Galvan, who went 7-for-7 in extra point attempts in the contest, kicked his third, and with 2:05 left in the quarter, Kilgore was already up by three quarters.

Kris Haynes picked off a tipped ball, thrown by Bullard's Conner Mebane, on first down of Bullard's next possession, and then Justice scored yet again, his third touchdown of the night, this one from 2 yards out. And Bullard couldn't get out of the first quarter without giving up one more score. The Panthers, at their own 23, fumbled the ball on second down, and Chris Powe recovered for the Bulldogs. Kilgore scored in two plays: Nick Orange caught a 9-yard pass, and then Brown scored on a 14-yard run.

Bullard had a field goal blocked with 3:35 left in the half by Ladarrin Anthony, and Kilgore led 35-0 at halftime.

Kilgore's Jacobie Vidal scored the only touchdown of the third quarter, a 2-yarder with 1:15 left. Mebane got Bullard's lone touchdown on a 1-yard sneak, but Joseph Shepherd returned the kickoff after that for an 80-yard score, the final score of the game.

Justice had 83 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Brown had 68 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Gaona was 2-for-4, completing the two passes to Foy and to Orange. Vidal carried 10 times for 72 yards and the touchdown. Jack Johnston had a carry for 8 yards, and Gaona had the 6-yard touchdown.

Kilgore's defense gave up only 39 yards passing to Bullard. The Panthers ran for 149 yards, much of it in the second half.
