One of East Texas' top defensive backs in the 2017 class received his sixth Division I scholarship offer Thursday, and fifth from an FCS program.

Webster (6-0, 202) announced via Twitter that Sam Houston State has extended an offer this way.

In addition to the Bearkats, Webster holds other FCS offers from Stephen F. Austin, Central Arkansas, Incarnate Word, and Missouri State. Webster's lone FBS offer is from Louisiana-Monroe.

Sam Houston is among the best FCS programs in the country. The Bearkats were 12-1 in 2016, falling to James Madison last Friday in the FCS quarterfinals.

Since 2011, Sam Houston State is 68-20 and has played for two national championships. The Bearkats are 34-10 in three seasons under coach K.C. Keeler.

Webster helped guide Longview to an 8-3 record this season, a second-place finish in District 11-6A and a first-round playoff appearance. As a junior, he was part of a defense that took Longview to the regional championship game of the Class 5A Division I state playoffs.

Like all college football prospects that are currently seniors in high school, Webster will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February.
