Marshall’s Chett Munden Picks Up ULM Offer

Chett Munden picked up good news Saturday.

Marshall's 6-foot-6, 303-pound offensive tackle confirmed to ETSN.fm he received a scholarship offer from Louisiana-Monroe.

The ULM offer is Munden's second college football opportunity. North Texas gave Munden his first offer on June 11.

"I really like both of them," Munden said. "I like their coaches and they run the same style of offense we run in Marshall... They are both pretty close to home, so that's good."

The Mavericks' standout joins a considerable list of Warhawks targets in East Texas' 2015 class.

ULM has five other rising seniors from the region with invitations to join the program. Three of the players have committed elsewhere, but Todd Berry's program picked up an important verbal commitment from Canton quarterback Chandler Eiland. John Tyler athlete Nick Cain is still on the Warhawks' board as an uncommitted prospect with one offer to date.

Munden has one of the best college football frames in East Texas. He was measured as the tallest offensive lineman at the ETSN.fm Football Recruiting Combine last month and appeared to be in good shape when the Mavericks visited our office last week for photo days.

Like all rising seniors, the lineman can field offers through at least National Signing Day on Feb. 4.

Munden will be among the top returnees this fall for a Marshall team that reached the playoffs last season for the first time since 2010. The Mavericks also return quarterback Justin Hart, receiver John Love and running back Deondre Osborne to what figures to be an explosive offense in 2014.

Marshall will compete in the new District 15-5A this season along with Greenville, Hallsville, Longview, Mount Pleasant, Pine Tree Texas High and Sulphur Springs.
