SAN ANTONIO — The Mount Vernon Tigers advanced to the Class 3A state championship game with a 63-54 win over Santa Rosa in their semifinal Thursday at the Alamodome.

The Tigers (35-1) will face Bowie (32-8) at 10 a.m. Saturday for the title.

Mount Vernon raced into halftime with a nine-point lead, and stretched the lead to 18 with a big third quarter.

Kason Pletcher led Mount Vernon with 22 points on 8-of-13 shooting.

Tyler Cooper added 16 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, while Brandon Aguilar hit four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points to go along with six rebounds and three assists.

Mount Vernon limited Santa Rosa (24-15) to 32 percent shooting and held a massing 43-24 rebounding edge.

Santa Rosa was led by AB Lozoya, who had 20 points, six steals, three assists, and three rebounds. Ryan Perez chipped in with 14 points and eight boards.
