CRANDALL -- Peter Maddox passed for four touchdowns, the Van defense limited Crandall to less than 100 yards of offense, and the eighth-ranked Vandals cruised to a 37-6 victory Friday night in District 8-4A Division I action.

Van (7-0, 2-0) rolled up 476 yards, and held Crandall (1-6, 0-2) to just 52 yards and only three first downs.

Maddox finished the game 18 of 32 passing for 274 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. His scoring tosses covered 15, 36, 5 and 58 yards.

Layton Myers was on the receiving end of three of those touchdowns, finishing with five catches for a team-high 132 yards. Andrew Platter had seven receptions for 77 yards, while Matt Savis rushed for a team-best 93 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries. He also pulled in a 5-yard scoring reception.

Crandall's only points came courtesy of an Isaac Salgado blocked punt return for a touchdown late in the first half, after Van had already built a 23-0 lead.

Van is back in action next Friday night at home against Mabank.
