2014 Baseball Playoffs

ROUND ROCK -- Hallsville coach Scott Mitchell summed it up pretty well: "It was just one of those days."

ROUND ROCK -- The old saying goes: "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again." But time was running out for Douglass senior Bryce Westbrook on his dream of becoming a state champion.

ROUND ROCK -- Thirty-four runs. That's it. That's how many runs Douglass' opponents combine to score in 34 games this season.

ROUND ROCK -- You'll have to forgive Kolten Rhoudes. He was just lost in the moment. Rhoudes' single to deep center in the bottom of the fifth inning sealed Douglass' 10-0 win over Flatonia in Thursday morning's Class A state championship game at Dell Diamond.

ROUND ROCK -- One thing is certain: a team must score at least one run to deny Douglass. And that has became a chore in and of itself recently.

MESQUITE – Coby Weaver proved the Hallsville Bobcats will enter the state baseball tournament with a one-two punch off the mound.

LUFKIN -- After three years of playoff disappointment at the hands of Carlisle, the top-ranked Douglass Indians were finally able to exercise the demons and reach every team's goal at the beginning of the season.

MESQUITE – A three-run third inning was all Hallsville needed offensively Thursday night to grab a 1-0 series lead against Mansfield Legacy in their Class 4A Region II championship series at Tillery Field.
