SHREVEPORT, La. -- Faced with its first 0-2 start in 51 years, Longview began Saturday night's finale of the annual Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase on fire, but needed a big fourth quarter from its defense to secure win No. 1 on the season.

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Marshall entered its Week 3 matchup with impressive stats after beating down Royse City and Crandall, but Bossier City (La.) Parkway taught the Mavericks there's still room for improvement in a 45-21 Battle on the Border showcase loss Saturday.

CANTON -- The Canton Eagles improved to 3-0 on the season with a 28-12 win over Crandall on Friday night.

TEXARKANA -- Former Pleasant Grove offensive coordinator Todd Elliot’s return to Hawk Field in Texarkana as the head coach of Linden-Kildare was spoiled, as PG ran roughshod over his Tigers 41–8.

KILGORE -- Both Kilgore and Pine Tree came into this battle of former district rivals with 0-2 records, but Pine Tree's was a lot worse.

ATHENS -- The Hornets ran into a tough Hallsville team Friday night in a 41-21 loss at Bruce Field. With the loss, Athens is 1-2 in non-district play. The Bobcats moved to 2-1 overall.

MOUNT PLEASANT -- Datavion Thacker rushed for 148 yards and three touchdowns and added another 72 receiving yards and two touchdowns as the Jacksonville Indians overcame five turnovers to beat the Mount Pleasant Tigers, 50-48, Friday in non-district action at Sam Parker Field.

TATUM -- In many cases, games with much hype fail to deliver. That wasn’t the case Friday night at Eagle Stadium as Gilmer and Tatum went toe-to-toe in the ETSN.fm/Dairy Queen Game of the Week.

WHITEHOUSE – Quarterback Jackson Allen passed for 335 yards and five touchdowns to lead Whitehouse to a 56-35 victory against Sulphur Springs at Wildcat Stadium. It was the fourth straight victory for Whitehouse in the series between the two teams. The winning side improved to 3-0 this season. Sulphur Springs dropped to 1-2.
