EUSTACE -- Naysayers were ready for a piece of Whitehouse as soon as it pulled off its thrilling bi-district win earlier in the week. The Wildcats did indeed fall to Lancaster in Friday's area round playoff game at Eustace High School, 79-51, but there certainly have been worse performances recorded against the defending Class 5A state champions.

EUSTACE -- Marshall's second straight 30-win season came to a close Friday at Eustace High School in the area round of the Class 5A playoffs. The Mavericks were trounced, 80-57, by Mansfield Timberview. It brought to an end the second most successful campaign in school history, in terms of total wins.

TATUM -- Whitehouse rallied from a 17-point deficit midway through the third quarter of its Class 5A bi-district playoff game to stun Texas High, 78-75, Tuesday at Tatum High School. Slow and steady won the race, an insult to the Wildcats' 57 percent shooting in any other contest.
