ATHENS — The Hornets had one of their best offensive performances of the year in a 61-36 loss to Waco Robinson Friday at Bruce Field. With the loss, Athens dropped to 0-4 on the season and Robinson broke a two-game losing streak to the Hornets. Coach Tommy Allison's squad improved to 4-0 with the victory.

TEXARKANA -- Texas High gave notice early that Friday's game against old rival Kilgore wouldn't be an instant classic. Tigers quarterback and North Texas verbal commit Cade Pearson guided Texas High to a 21-0 first-quarter lead, then landed the knockout blows before halftime to send the Bulldogs home with a 44-0 loss ...

LUFKIN -- With the Monterrey Prepa Tec making the long trip to Lufkin for a rare international football game, the Panthers rolled out the welcome mat for their neighbors to the south. When the teams finally kicked off, however, the Panthers' hospitality went out the window.

PALESTINE – Van held Palestine to 20 total yards and one first down in the second half, and the Vandals also outscored the Wildcats 14-0 after halftime to pull away for a 38-21 win in a battle of undefeated teams at Wildcat Stadium. Palestine's offense went ice-cold in the fourth quarter, getting knocked back for minus-10 yards ...

LONGVIEW – Longview struck first and Mesquite Horn answered quickly Friday night in the District 11-6A opener for both teams at Lobo Stadium. The Lobos then took off, outscoring the visiting Jaguars, 28-3, for a commanding 35-10 lead at halftime, enough of a margin for Longview to overcome four second-half turnovers in a 47-37 win ...

TERRELL -- Terrell managed to open up their offense in the second half en route to a 38-14 non-district win against Lindale at Memorial Stadium. Both teams struggled through a sluggish first half, which featured lots of penalties on both teams that consistently stymied offensive momentum.

TYLER -- Take your pick in John Tyler's 59-58 loss Friday to Rockwall at CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium. The Lions fumbled one possession away. They failed to recover an onside kick in a pretty obvious situation. They gave up a two-point conversion after Rockwall's final touchdown. Up 30-17 at the time, they false started on their own two-point conversion after missing a PAT earlier
