BRYAN -- Four East Texas players earned first-team spots on the Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State Football Team, which was released Monday.

Several East Texas players were honored on the Texas Associated Press Sports Editors Class 2A all-state high school football team, which was released Sunday night.

TEXARKANA -- Freshman guard Javier Neal is a player quickly bursting to the forefront of East Texas' Class 5A basketball scene and turned in another impressive night Tuesday. Neal scored 19 of his team-best 21 points in the second half, but Texas High rode the streak out with red hot shooting for a 75-63 win on their home floor in their first game of the season.

NEW LONDON -- Alto junior quarterback Keenen Johnson rushed for 299 yards and six touchdowns in the seventh-ranked Yellowjackets' 65-29 rout of Ore City in their Class 2A Division I Region III area-round playoff Friday night at Bruce Bradshaw Stadium.

NEW LONDON -- Not since 1994 had the Ore City Rebels recorded a playoff victory. That all changed in a big way Friday night at Bradshaw Stadium as the Rebels forced eight turnovers in a 46-0 victory over Shelbyville in a Class 2A Division I Region III bi-district matchup.

Despite a few losses, there were no changes among the top eight teams in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 2A/Private School poll.
