Stephen F. Austin can anticipate landing its own region's leading tackler on National Signing Day. Wills Point linebacker Sloan Rodberg made the call Sunday to join the Lumberjacks program. His decision, which he announced through his personal Twitter account, came just after completing his official visit to Nacogdoches.

Sloan Rodberg became the second local player Tuesday to receive an offer from Incarnate Word and now officially has scholarship options if he wants to play Southland Conference ball. The Cardinals program has joined league rival Stephen F. Austin in pursuit of the Wills Point senior linebacker and East Texas' tackles leader. The best Wills Point season in more than a decade came to a close last week. It appeared that might have been the end of Sloan Rodberg's football playing career. Fortunately, that's not going to be the case. Stephen F. Austin contacted the senior linebacker Tuesday and invited him to join their program on scholarship for the 2017 season and beyond.
