TEXARKANA -- Texas High got a nice tuneup game from a Greenville squad playing for pride Tuesday in the District 16-5A finale.

Greenville owned a largest lead of 12 points in the first quarter before falling 73-60.

The Lady Tigers roared back from a sluggish start with an elongated 25-10 run through the second quarter. They forced more than 10 turnovers during the period.

Greenville was back within one point at the third-quarter buzzer, but Texas High won the fourth quarter by a margin of 24-12.

Antonia Porter led the Lady Tigers with 13 points in the contest.

Texas High, the fourth seed out of its district, will face either Highland Park or Wylie East in the bi-district round of the playoffs. Those two teams tied for first in the adjacent district and will settle their seeding with a coin toss.

Winona's Garrett Has Career Night

WINONA -- Nichole Garrett had a huge game against Cumberland Academy in 68-17 win.

Garrett scored 40 points for Winona and nearly recorded a double-double with eight steals in the District 15-3A finale. The junior also had five rebounds and two assists.

No other players reached double digits for the winning side, but Shirnae McMiller and Randaysha Hanson got close with nine and eight points respectively.

Chapel Hill Tops Spring Hill

NEW CHAPEL HILL -- Chapel Hill's 71-34 win against Spring Hill helped set the stage for a fourth-place game between Spring Hill and Kilgore later this week.

The winner of the play-in game between the Lady Panthers and Kilgore Lady Bulldogs will reach the state playoffs and the loser's season will end. Spring Hill and Kilgore split their regular season series with both teams winning a game on the other's court.

Kilgore could have clinched District 16-4A's fourth-place seed outright with a win Tuesday against league champion Gilmer. It lost 55-33 as Gilmer secured a perfect district record.

The usual suspects got the job done for Chapel Hill.

Mykaela Alfred scored 20 points, April Walker tallied 19, Kyia Moore netted 11 and  Ty'Liyah Moore rounded out double-digit scorers with 10.

Jayla Landrum scored a game-best 24 points for Spring Hill. No other Lady Panthers players scored more than five points.

Chapel Hill will face Henderson in the bi-district round of the Class 4A playoffs next Tuesday. Arp High School hosts the game.

Bullard Ends Gladewater's Season

GLADEWATER -- Bullard rolled to a 57-29 victory in an inconsequential District 16-4A game for both teams.

The Lady Panthers had already secured second place in the league and could not advance any higher. The Lady Bears had previously been eliminated from the postseason picture.

Bullard managed to build a 29-7 halftime lead and enjoyed three double-digit scorers before the game's final buzzer.

Hannah Lloyd and Allie Kirgan both scored 15 points for the winning side while Sydney Foster recorded 14 points.

WHITEHOUSE -- The Wildcats earned a 52-37 win at home against Corsicana and are now tied for second in the District 17-5A standings alongside Corsicana with just two games remaining for both teams.

Whitehouse's win allowed Nacogdoches to advance into first place with a win elsewhere against Lindale. Nacogdoches will close its regular season season with Whitehouse at home Friday and Corsicana on the road next Tuesday.

Colby Duhon scored a team-best 17 points for the Wildcats in their victory. Javier Neal had a big game as well with 13 points.

Corsicana will travel to Ennis on Friday ahead of its showdown with Nacogdoches.
