Tyler Grace Girls Down Van In Basketball Opener

VAN -- Tyler Grace Community kicked off the 2016-2017 girls basketball season Monday with a 67-35 win at Van.

Addie Daughtry and Jordan Tauscher picked up right where they left off from last season's trip to first round of the TAPPS 4A playoffs. Daughty scored a game-best 28 points and Tauscher put 22 points on the scoresheet.

Cartherine Gisore's 12 points led the Lady Vandals in defeat.

Grace (1-0) scored at least a dozen points in each quarter of the contest. Van (0-1) was held to single digits after a 13-point first quarter and faced a 39-21 deficit at halftime.

The Lady Vandals will spend the upcoming weekend at Grand Saline's varsity tournament. Action begins Thursday and runs through Saturday.

Grace has a date at home Thursday with Frankston.
