One of East Texas' top baseball players in the 2017 class made it official Wednesday by signing with Stephen F. Austin.

Beasley (6-3, 175) was one of nine signees the Lumberjacks will be welcoming for the 2018 baseball season.

According to SFA's bio on Beasley: "Able to play in the field and on the mound, it was as a pitcher where Beasley does the most damage for Van High School. With speed ranging anywhere from 87-90 miles per hour, Beasley helped his squad capture the District 14-4A regular season crown in 2015 before pitching the squad into the 2016 playoffs."

SFA went 30-30 overall and 14-16 in Southland Conference play in 2016. The 'Jacks are coached by Johnny Cardenas, who will begin his ninth season at SFA on Feb. 17 against Southeast Missouri State.

Van opens the season at the Sunnyvale Tournament, Feb. 23-25.
