VAN -- The Vandals started off slow, but they were ultimately too much for Brownsboro in District 8-4A Division I competition.

Van scored 42 points through the second, third and fourth quarters and held the Bears off the board until the final minutes in a 49-7 victory.

Brownsboro (1-5, 1-1) benefitted from two early takeaways toward a 7-0 deficit midway through the second quarter. From there, however, opposing quarterback Garrett Moseley broke through with a 20-yard scoring run before finding Isaiah Allred and Connor Houston for long range scores through the air.

Allred caught a second touchdown in the second half as did Connor Houston, who also opened scoring in the first quarter with an 18-yard catch from Moseley.

Running backs Reid Thomas and Davonte Johnson added to the lead later on in the contest.

Kenneth Woods scored for Brownsboro in the final minutes.

Van (6-0, 3-0) faces Mabank next week. Kaufman will pay a visit to the Bears.
