Waskom Offense Finds Its Groove in Second Half of 28-7 Win Over Gunter
MOUNT PLEASANT -- No. 5 Waskom took quite an unfamiliar point total into the locker room at halftime, but the Wildcats made that a distant memory in the second half.
Chan Amie rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns, and Waskom stayed unbeaten with a 28-7 win over Gunter on Friday in a Class 3A Division II area playoff.
Waskom (12-0) will take on Arp -- a 32-6 winner over Lone Oak on Friday night -- at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Pine Tree's Pirate Stadium in Longview in the regional round.
The Wildcats owned just a 7-0 lead at the break -- the lowest point total in a first half this season -- but erupted in the second to put the game away.
In addition to Amie's big night, Eric Stephens III scored on an 81-yard touchdown run and Dylan Harkrider also threw a 30-yard touchdown in the win.
