MIDLOTHIAN - The College Station Cougars remained undefeated and advanced to the Class 5A area round with a 51-14 win against the Whitehouse Wildcats on Saturday at Midlothian ISD Stadium.

The Cougars (11-0) will play Magnolia in the area round at a time and place to be determined.

Whitehouse, which had been absent from the playoffs since 2013, finished the season at 6-5.

The Wildcats cut the College Station lead to 7 midway through a wild third quarter after Javier Neal returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown, then after a College Station three-and-out, drove 60 yards in three plays capped by a touchdown pass from Jake Clemons to Cameron Cantrell.

Then the wheels fell off.

College Station quarterback Marquez Perez capped the next two possessions with rushing touchdowns, then running back Chris Monroe added another as the Cougars scored on three straight possessions to put the game out of reach.

Perez completed 15 of 28 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown and was the team’s leading rusher with 89 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries.

Whitehouse used three quarterbacks in the game as it looked for a spark on offense - each of which threw an interception - as they combined to complete 19 of 44 passes for 211 yards including a touchdown and three interceptions.

Cantrell caught nine passes for a season-high 144 yards and Zach Parker added five catches for 72 yards.
