East Texas had two teams make their season debuts in this week's Associated Press top 10 polls following impressive Week 5 performances.
There were a couple of big movers in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 6A/5A poll after an interesting opening week of District 15- and 16-5A.
NACOGDOCHES -- Friday's meeting between Lufkin and Nacogdoches had the potential to be the best-played game between the two schools. It lived up to the hype in the Dragons' 38-35, District 16-5A win.
The game had everything a fan could want.

The Gilmer Buckeyes, fresh off a 61-9 rout of Daingerfield that improved them to 4-0 on the season, moved up to two spots to No. 3 in this week's Associated Press Class 4A poll.
The Tyler Lee Red Raiders have put together two impressive wins in a row, and have jumped up two spots to No. 2 in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 6A/5A poll.
LUFKIN -- The John Tyler Lady Lions remained perfect in District 16-5A play with a 25-17, 25-23, 14-25, 25-13 win over Lufkin on Tuesday night.
Despite suffering their first losses of the season over the weekend, John Tyler and Lufkin did not drop too far in this week's Associated Press Class 5A poll.
Last week's No. 1 and 2 teams each lost over the weekend, but in the end, it wasn't enough to drop either of them from the top two spots in this week's ETSN.fm East Texas Class 6A/5A poll.
SHREVEPORT, La. -- Saturday afternoon's clash between Louisiana state power River Ridge John Curtis and Lufkin at the Battle on the Border High School Football Showcase certainly lived up to hype.
