Arp’s Tyrone Hunt Picks Up Offer From Baylor

With just about one week remaining until National Signing Day, the recruiting activity has certainly picked up for Arp 2015 defensive end Tyrone Hunt.

Long committed to UTSA, Hunt received his first offer from a Power 5 conference when Baylor formally dished out an invitation to the Tigers' standout.

InsideUTSA.com first reported the story, and it was later confirmed to ETSN.fm by Arp head coach Dale Irwin late Tuesday afternoon.

Hunt (6-4, 230) pledged to UTSA on Aug. 25, but was recently invited by Baylor for an official visit to the Waco campus, which he will take this weekend. There is a report from InsideRunnerSports.com that Hunt has de-committed from UTSA, but ETSN.fm has not been able to confirm. It is expected that Hunt will commit during this weekend's visit.

Baylor is coming off its second consecutive Big 12 championship. The Bears finished 11-2 in 2014, falling to Michigan State in the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 1. Baylor ended the year ranked No. 7 in the Associated Press poll.

The Bears, led by head coach Art Briles, already have two East Texans in the 2015 class committed -- Longview running back JaMycal Hasty and Gilmer receiver Blake Lynch, who is already enrolled there.

Hunt finished his senior season with 93 tackles (14 for loss), six sacks, seven quarterback pressures, four forced fumbles, three recoveries and two passes broken up. He helped lead Arp to a 9-2 record and a berth in the area round of the Class 3A Division II playoffs.
