BUFFALO -- Austin Sheridan passed for four touchdowns and ran for another in Elkhart's 56-3 season-opening win over Buffalo on Friday night.

Sheridan completed 15 of 26 attempts for 280 yards.

Alex Flores had a solid all-round game for the Elks (1-0), catching six passes for 86 yards and a touchdown, returning the game's opening kickoff 86 yards for touchdown, and adding an interception on defense.

Zack Gray rushed for 86 yards on 12 carries, and caught two passes for 32 yards and two touchdowns.

Linebacker Chris Box sparked Elkhart's defensive effort with 12 tackles and a forced fumble. Traylon Swanson and Taner Tunstall recorded 12 and 11 tackles, respectively.

Elkhart's season continues next Friday night at Jewett Leon.
