There aren't too many more fierce rivals in the Ark-La-Tex region than Texas High and Arkansas High, two schools located in the same city but on opposite sides of the Texas and Arkansas border.

The two meet again Friday night on the Arkansas side in the ETSN.fm + Dairy Queen Game of the Week.

The rivalry may have been at its peak when both the University of Texas and University of Arkansas shared the Southwest Conference from 1915-1991, but the fires between the two high schools still burn bright.

Texas High holds a decided edge in the series history, with a 47-18-1 advantage since 1947. However, Arkansas High has posted nine wins over its interstate rival since 1989, including last year's 20-14 overtime win -- the first Razorbacks win over Texas High since 2000.

Friday night's encounter will be the season opener for Arkansas High, while Texas High is looking to follow up last week's impressive 48-20 victory at Whitehouse.

Junior quarterback Cade Pearson led Texas High by completing 10 of 11 passes for 219 yards and a touchdown. He also added a 4-yard scoring run. Quan Hampton caught four passes for 97 yards, while J'Kardi Witcher rushed for 100 yards on 13 carries, which included a 71-yard touchdown.

Meanwhile, Texas High's defense forced three turnovers and held Whitehouse to just seven points through three quarters.
