LONGVIEW -- The Brownsboro Bears advanced to the regional tournament for the second consecutive season with a thrilling 59-58 overtime win over Pleasant Grove in a Class 4A Region II quarterfinal Tuesday night at Lobo Coliseum.

Pleasant Grove's Connor Ouelette's desperation shot from the top of the key fell short as time expired, which sent Brownsboro back to regionals.

Brownsboro (27-4) will play Wednesday afternoon's winner between top-ranked Dallas Triple A Academy and No. 7 Argyle on Friday night in one 4A Region II semifinal from Texas A&M-Commerce's Field House.

With the Bears clinging to a 57-56 lead in the closing seconds, Brownsboro's Chris Givens came up with a steal and passed the ball to Will Bailey, who was fouled with 0.8 seconds remaining.

However, Brownsboro fans began swarming the court before the buzzer sounded, which prompted officials to hand the Bears a technical foul. Bailey made both of his foul shots, which increased the lead to 59-56, before Pleasant Grove's Peter Gavriel knocked down both technical free throws to bring the Hawks' deficit back to a point.

Pleasant Grove then inbounded a pass from halfcourt to Ouelette, whose last-ditch effort went for naught.

Brownsboro had to rally in the final two minutes of both regulation and overtime to survive. Freshman Kenneth Woods, who finished with 17 points, converted a 3-point play with 2:15 remaining in overtime that gave the Bears a 55-53 lead.

Gavriel, who led Pleasant Grove with 18 points, then made three consecutive foul shots to regain the lead for the Hawks, 56-55, with less than a minute remaining.

Bailey, who had 15 points for Brownsboro, then knocked down a pair of free throws to give the Bears the lead for good at 57-56 with 29 seconds remaining.

Tamrick Pace led Brownsboro on the night with 18 points.

Ryan Martin had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort for Pleasant Grove, while teammate Cross Bright chipped in with three points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots.
