BULLARD -- Carlisle scored 35 unanswered points Friday at Brook Hill's Herrington Stadium to end Cayuga's season, 42-21, in the Class 2A Division I area round.

The Indians overcame a 14-7 deficit after one quarter of play largely thanks to quarterback Tristan Craig. He ran in two scores and passed for a third as part of the 35-point spree.

Craig played a hand in four of the team's seven touchdowns overall.

Carlisle (11-1), ranked 10th among 2A teams in the most recent Associated Press poll, gained an early upper hand when Jay Price hauled in a 20-yard pass from Craig.

Cayuga (7-5) bounced back with short touchdowns from Colton Brock and Tristain Davis.

But Craig scored from two yards out for the tie and then threw an 18-yard pass to Jose Servin for what ultimately held up as the game's winning touchdown before the first half ended.

Craig and Mason Pendleton upped the Indians' lead to 35-7 in the third quarter on runs before Carlisle recovered a Cayuga fumble in the end zone in the final period.

Carlisle is awaiting the winner of today's playoff game between Big Sandy and San Augustine in the Region III semifinal round. Those two teams will kick off at 1 p.m. inside Rusk's Eagle Stadium.
