CAYUGA -- Carlisle cruised to a 41-7, District 11-2A Division I road win Friday against Cayuga at Scarborough Stadium.

The victory helped the Indians (7-2, 3-1) keep pace with Kerens for second place in the league, and it was a tough loss for the Bulldogs to swallow.

Cayuga (3-6, 1-3) will visit Grapeland and contest for the final playoff spot next week.

Carlisle, on the other hand, is a lock for the Class 2A Division I playoff bracket and could clinch second place with a head-to-head win against Kerens in its regular season finale. A loss would knock the Indians into the third seed.

The Indians scored the game's first 41 points and gave up the shutout with 3:25 to play.

Bryce McGowan led Carlisle with first half touchdowns runs of 39 yards and 10 yards. Collin Gray's one-yard score left Cayuga facing a 21-0 halftime deficit.

Collin Gray got things started in the second frame with a 25-yard run and Rico Pereles rounded out third quarter scoring with an electric 57-yard run.

Brandon Mason put an exclamation point on the win with a 23-yard score on the ground with 9:39 to play in the final quarter.

Cayuga got on the board with Tristan Croft's late three-yard run.
