LINDALE -- After falling behind by 11 points in the middle of the second period, the Corsicana Tigers reeled off 21 straight points and held off the Lindale Eagles for a 24-23 District 16-5A win at Eagle Stadium Friday night.

The Eagles (1-3, 0-1) opened up a 14-3 advantage on a 5-yard touchdown run from Ryan Taylor and a 16-yard pass from quarterback Kam Neely to Garrett Sir Louis.

But Corsicana (2-2, 1-0) stormed back and trimmed the margin to 14-10 on a 27-yard run from Jamaal Evans with 4:33 until halftime.

Neely was intercepted on the Eagles’ next possession, and on the first play after the turnover, Evans bulled his way 59 yards for his second touchdown.

Lindale tried an onside kick to start the second half, but the ball wound up at the Eagle 35. Six plays later, Danair Martin scooted in from 15 yards out.

With 9:02 left in the third period, it appeared the Tigers were in command with a 24-14 lead.

But Lindale stormed back two possessions later, as Taylor scored from eight yards out to cut the Tigers' lead to 24-21 with 2:33 left in the third period.

A big play on that drive was a 38-yard completion from Neely to Cameron Sir Louis on third down.

Two Corsicana possessions later, Lindale forced a punt from the Tigers and with just over eight minutes left, the Eagles began to march.

With Bryce Barkowsky running out of the Wildcat formation, Lindale moved from its own 19 to the Corsicana 30.

But on second down, Neely was intercepted in the end zone.

Corsicana’s punter ran out of the end zone on fourth down giving the Eagles a safety.

Lindale will take on John Tyler next Friday in Tyler, while Corsicana will host Jacksonville.
