In the much-anticipated season-opening matchup between Liberty-Eylau and Gilmer, the preseason Nos. 1 and 2 teams in the ETSN.fm East Texas Class 4A poll, it was the Buckeyes who came out on top.

And thus, Gilmer replaced Liberty-Eylau at No. 1 in this week's rankings, while the Leopards dropped to second after their 50-45 loss.

Atlanta and Henderson each shot up four spots to No. 4 and 5, respectively, in the poll following impressive victories. The Rabbits destroyed New Boston, 55-7, while Henderson took care of Athens, 35-20, last Friday night.

Van entered the poll this week at No. 10 after its 45-14 rout of Palestine. The Vandals replaced Tatum, which suffered a 37-28 season-opening loss at Newton.
