TEXARKANA -- The Pleasant Grove Hawks took down crosstown rival Liberty-Eylau, 5-2, Friday night in a battle of District 14-4A unbeatens.

Pleasant Grove (18-2, 3-0) got a complete-game pitching performance from senior Caleb Bolden, who allowed two unearned runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.

The Hawks were led at the plate by Cade Thompson, who went 3-for-3, including a two-run single in the third inning. Keaton Russo also had three hits for Pleasant Grove.

Liberty-Eylau's Darian Walker led the Leopards' (2-1 in district) losing effort with three hits.

Both teams return to action Tuesday night. Liberty-Eylau plays host to Paris, while Pleasant Grove is home to Paris North Lamar.

 

Palmer Holds Off Bullard Brook Hill

PALMER -- The Bullard Brook Hill Guard scored four runs in the top of the seventh, but fell one run short in a 7-6 loss to Palmer in non-district baseball action Friday night.

Brooks Parham led Brook Hill at the plate by going 4-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI. Seth Moss had three hits and drove in two runs, while Josh Jenkins, and Miguel Vega all collected at least two hits.

Brook Hill outhit Palmer, 14-6, but made four errors in the field, which led to four unearned runs.

The Guard returns to the field Tuesday at home against Tyler Bishop Gorman.
