SULPHUR SPRINGS -- The Sulphur Springs Wildcats remained undefeated in District 15-5A with an 8-4 victory over Longview on Friday night.

Sulphur Springs (6-0 in district) remained a full game up on Hallsville, which defeated Pine Tree on Friday, for first place in the league standings.

The Wildcats slugged 15 hits in the win. Larry Pryor was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Ethan Phillips had three hits and scored twice, while Tyler Follis and Kade Hudgins had two hits and two RBIs apiece.

Ben Books was the winning pitcher, allowing no earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and one walk in seven innings.

Longview (2-4 in district) was led by offensively by Dez Chumley (2-for-4, two RBIs, run) and Michael Ross (2-for-3, run).

Both teams are back in action Tuesday night. Sulphur Springs is at Marshall, while Longview plays host to Hallsville.

 

SOFTBALL

Bullard Too Much For Chapel Hill

NEW CHAPEL HILL -- The Bullard Lady Panthers earned a 9-3 win over Chapel Hill in District 16-4A action Friday night.

Zoe Hancock led the way offensively by going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Baylee Taylor was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, while Destinee Dixon had two hits and drove in a run.

Kyndel Clayton was the winning pitcher.

Bullard is back in action Tuesday at home against Kilgore.
