Friday Basketball: Bullard Girls Blast Cumberland Academy, 72-24
BULLARD -- The Bullard Lady Panthers wasted no time Friday night, racing out to a 72-24 rout of Cumberland Academy.
Day led the team with 19 points while Sydney Foster added 14 and Erin Berry had 12.
The victory improved Bullard to 22-5 and 4-0 in District 16-4A. The Last Panthers will next face Douglass on Friday in Bullard.
Tatum girls scrape by Jefferson, 60-53
JEFFERSON -- It was a close call Friday night for Tatum, but the Lady Eagles managed to remain unscathed in district play.
Tatum took out Jefferson, 60-53, staving off a late comeback attempt.
Tatum jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the first quarter and played Jefferson fairly even the rest of the way. The Lady Bulldogs managed to score 24 points in the final quarter, but at that point the lead proved insurmountable.
Essence Allen led the charge with 19 points. She added six rebounds and five assists. Jayla Hooper was next with 16 points and six rebounds, while Ahston Brown added 14 and six.
Tatum improved to 12-4 and 4-0 in District 15-3A. The Lady Eagles now turn their attention to the Tenaha tournament, where they will face Joaquin at 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
