Friday Basketball Roundup: Both Martin’s Mill Teams Scratch Out Wins + Bullard Girls Down Athens
LANEVILLE -- The Yellowjackets started working on their District 28-A schedule Friday and hammered Wells, 91-32, in Laneville.
Four players got into double digits in the rout.
Tra Alexander led the team with 22 points, Jaylon Grant finished one point shy with 21, Kendrick Johnson chipped in 13 and Ty Johnson rounded the group out with 12.
Johnson recorded eight rebounds, Grant dished a team-high five assists and Tiarel Franklin played a huge role on the defensive side of the floor with seven steals.
Laneville moved to 9-2 overall and will step out of the district to participate in the Tenaha tournament Dec. 29 through Dec. 31.
Martin's Mill Too Much For Paradise
MARTIN'S MILL -- Martin's Mill got another win as the host team of their on-campus tournament.
The Mustangs defeated Paradise, 63-50.
Only four players scored for Martin's Mill in the game, but each offense contribution was significant.
Hunter Conway scored 21 points, Davis Moore had 19 and Dylan Weatherford finished with 14 points. Logan Jenkins rounded out the Mustang's score total with nine points.
Martin's Mill moved to 12-1 in non-district play.
Girls Basketball
Martin's Mill Crushes Van
MARTIN'S MILL -- Forward Cheyenne Brown scored 25 points and that alone was enough for the Lady Mustangs in a 68-17 win against Van.
Alyssa Pate scored another 13 points for Martin's Mill and Joce Bennet rounded out double-digit scorers with 10.
The Lady Mustangs are now 11-4.
Bullard Takes Down Athens
ATHENS -- Bullard rolled to a 57-32 win against Athens on the road.
Lauren Zachary hit five 3-point shots on her way to a team-high 18 points. Lexi Kirgan was right behind Zachary on the score sheet with 16 points.
The Lady Panthers upped their record to 16-4.
