EMORY -- The Emory Rains Ladycats earned a 25-10, 25-18, 25-20 sweep of Van in District 13-4A action Friday.

McKenna Hildebrandt led Rains (23-11, 4-1) with 10 kills and eight blocks. Summer Nerkowski added nine kills, Shelbi Sheppard had eight kills, 21 assists, an ace, and eight digs, Aubrey Gowin finished with eight kills and five blocks, while Elissa Elliott contributed 11 digs.

Rains returns to action Tuesday at home against Brownsboro.

 

Quitman Outlasts Edgewood

EDGEWOOD -- The Quitman Lady Bulldogs survived a five-set match with Edgewood, securing a 23-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-9, 15-11 win in District 12-3A play Friday.

Kaci Raley paced Quitman (27-7, 9-0) with 24 kills, two blocks, one assist, and 11 digs. Molly Tanner added 17 kills, two blocks, an ace, and 12 digs, Madalyn Spears had eight kills, one block, one assist, two aces, and 21 digs, Jentri Jackson finished with five kills, one ace, and 12 digs, while Cammie Hicks racked up 54 assists, one kill, three aces, and seven digs.

Quitman's season resumes Tuesday at home against Alba-Golden.

 

Beckville Remains Unbeaten

BECKVILLE -- The Beckville Ladycats remained perfect on the season with a commanding 25-11, 25-8, 25-1 sweep of Jefferson on Friday in District 16-3A action.

Riley Seegers led Beckville (31-0, 8-0) with 20 kills, three blocks, and two digs. Payton Jones added nine kills, one assist, and 11 digs, Hannah Humphries had eight kills, Kinley Pepper registered 39 assists, a block, an ace, and five digs, while Courtlyn Nail chipped in with eight digs and an ace.

Beckville plays host to Union Grove on Tuesday.

 

Gary Edges Carlisle

GARY -- Gary earned a hard-fought 25-27, 19-25, 25-10, 25-11, 15-9 win over Carlisle in District 20-2A competition Friday.

Leann Youngblood led the way for Gary with 25 kills, one block, two aces, and 21 digs. Briley Edwards added eight kills and two blocks, Madie Davis had five kills, five blocks, three aces, and 11 digs, Taylor Rodgers finished with 34 assists, five aces, and 13 digs, while Alexis Rowe added two blocks and 10 digs, and Gracie Johnson had four aces and six digs.

In the losing effort for Carlisle, Heather Craig finished with 21 kills, two blocks, three aces, and 14 digs. Aubrey Hart had eight kills, Callie Gray finished with five kills, two aces, and 11 digs, while Jailin Kee had 31 assists and 14 digs.

Both teams return to play Tuesday. Carlisle entertains Timpson, while Gary travels to Leverett's Chapel.
