HALLSVILLE -- The Hallsville Bobcats used a balanced offensive attack and an opportunistic defense to take down Van, 38-13, on Friday night at Bobcat Stadium.

Hallsville quarterback Austin Toney was 11-of-12 passing for 153 yards in the first half, helping the Bobcats to a 17-0 lead. Running backs Macailyn Wilder and Thaddeus Fagan had Hallsville's two first-half touchdowns, while Santos Estrada added a 29-yard field goal.

Estrada added two interceptions on defense, while Coby Bradford added 2.5 sacks after recording five last week to earn Dairy Queen Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Hallsville (1-1) turned to the ground in the second half, only attempting three passes the rest of the way. Kha'lil Sneed finished with 116 yards on just 11 attempts, with 104 coming in the final two quarters. Fagan and Wilder added another 65 for the Bobcats.

Van (1-1) rushed for 209 yards, but couldn't find any traction in the passing game. Quarterback Garrett Smallwood was just 12-of-30 for 89 yards and two interceptions for the Vandals.
