Henderson Pulls Away from Bullard in the Second Half, 34-10
BULLARD -- Henderson notched its second consecutive District 16-3A victory with a big second half to lift the Lions to a 34-10 win at Bullard on Friday night.
Junior quarterback Zane Boles had a huge game, completing 23 of 39 passes for 403 yards and three touchdowns to orchestrate the win for Henderson, which improved to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in 16-3A entering the Lions' home game against No. 3 Kilgore (7-0, 4-0) on Friday.
Henderson led Bullard 10-3 at halftime before blowing the game open in the second half. The loss dropped Bullard to 3-4 overall and 1-3 in district.
Henderson's Tre' Hollins caught nine passes for 165 yards and one touchdown, a 30-yarder for the first score of the game. Hollins also returned a third-quarter kickoff 90 yards for a score. Zedrick Lister snagged three passes for 129 yards and two second-half scores, which covered 10 and 87 yards. Tristan Lary added six receptions for 63 yards.
Henderson's Hunter Davis tallied a team-high 44 yards on 10 carries. Kicker Edgar Sanchez made field-goal attempts of 25 and 40 yards and hit all four extra-point tries. Vince McNew had three catches for 42 yards.
Bullard's Austin Skelton ran for a game-high 73 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries, while Connor Mebane gained 51 yards on 20 rushes. Mebane completed 4 of 13 passes for 72 yards with three passes going to Zach Eschberger for 57 yards.
Bullard travels to No. 1 Gilmer (8-0, 4-0) on Friday.
