Texas High's Tevailance Hunt Earns First Power 5 Offer

Texas High junior receiver Tevailance Hunt picked up his sixth Division I FBS scholarship offer on Wednesday, and the first from a school belonging to one of the five major conferences.

Hunt (6-2, 180) announced via Twitter that Iowa State has reached out to him.

The Tigers' standout also holds FBS offers from Arkansas State, Bowling Green, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, and North Texas. Hunt also holds an FCS invitation from Central Arkansas.

Hunt caught 36 passes last season for 701 yards and scored 10 times.

Texas High worked its way to a perfect 10-0 record through the regular season last year, but it got upset by West Mesquite in the first round of the Class 5A Division I state playoffs.

The mid-November loss marked the end of a talented offensive skill set surrounding Hunt. Quarterback Cade Pearson is already enrolled at North Texas, fellow receiver Quan Hampton will play for Kansas next season and lead running back Devuntay Walker will join the Midwestern State program this summer.

Longtime Texas High coach Barry Norton left the program in January to become the new head coach at Texarkana city rival Arkansas High. The Tigers officially hired his replacement, former White Oak boss Gerry Stanford, on Monday.

Iowa State, a member of the Big 12 Conference, is coming off a 3-9 finish in 2016, the first under head coach Matt Campbell.

Hunt, like all college football prospects currently in their junior year of high school, will become eligible to sign with any school that offers him in February of 2018.
