Jeffery Wilson’s Huge Performance Propels Elkhart to 47-31 Win over Trinity in Regular-Season Finale
ELKHART -- Jeffery Wilson rushed for 378 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Elkhart Elks to a 47-31 defeat of Trinity on Friday night in the regular-season finale for both teams.
Wilson, East Texas' leading rusher, pushed his season total to 2,487 yards and 35 touchdowns. His scoring runs on Friday covered 24, 5, 25, 1 28 and 75 yards.
The Elks also got big defensive performances from Austin Sheridan, Chris Box and Gaje Smock. Sheridan had 11 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one recovery. Box finished with 12 tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble. Smock had a team-high 20 tackles (two for loss) and a sack.
Elkhart (7-3, 3-2 in District 11-2A Division I) will face Godley (7-3) in a Region III bi-district playoff at 7:30 p.m. Thursday from Corsicana's Tiger Stadium.
