Liberty-Eylau Thrashes Pleasant Grove 56-7 in District 13-3A Opener

TEXARKANA -- Liberty-Eylau recorded four touchdowns of 58 yards or more and built a six-score halftime lead in a 56-7 blowout of Pleasant Grove in Friday night's District 13-3A opener at Harris Field.

Rashaan Donelson hit Baylor-bound receiver Davion Hall for an 80-yard first-quarter touchdown, while Hall added a 75-yard fumble return for a touchdown during the Leopards' 41-point first half.

Liberty-Eylau's Javon Rigsby connected with Michael Carr on an 85-yard touchdown for a 48-0 lead less than a minute into the third quarter before Lamont Byrd's 58-yard touchdown run capped the Leopards' scoring, 56-0, later in the period.

Donelson completed 3 of 5 passes for 99 yards before leaving the game with what appeared to be a potentially severe leg injury, according to the Texarkana Gazette. Donelson was carted off the field. Rigsby threw for 139 yards on 3-for-6 passing in relief of Donelson, who is a three-year starter and a senior.

Hall caught three passes for 128 yards as L-E (3-3, 1-0) outgained Pleasant Grove 495-181 despite running only 25 offensive plays. Donell Hoof ran six times for 143 yards and a touchdown to lead the Leopards' ground game, which gained 257 yards on only 14 attempts.

Hunter Hatfield's 45-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Connor Lemmerhirt was the only score for Pleasant Grove, which fell to 1-5 overall and 0-1 in 13-3A.
