Longtime White Oak Boys Basketball Coach Ron Boyett Steps Down

One of the best coaches across the East Texas sports landscape has decided to step down after 25 seasons on the job.

White Oak boys basketball coach Ron Boyett announced he will no longer lead the Roughnecks program on Wednesday, a story first reported by the Longview News-Journal.

Boyett captured more than 500 win in his career at White Oak, which included back-to-back Class 2A state championships in 2012 and 2013.

The Roughnecks were eliminated by Rice, 65-53, Tuesday night in the bi-district round of the Class 3A playoffs.
