SAN ANTONIO -- The Martin's Mill Lady Mustangs rolled into the Class 2A state championship game with a 78-45 rout of Mason in their girls state semifinal Friday morning at the Alamodome.

Martin's Mill (39-1), ranked No. 1 in the state, will face second-ranked and fellow East Texas competitor LaPoynor (34-2) for the title at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Lady Mustangs used a 31-point opening quarter to establish its dominance as it led by 21 points after the game's first eight minutes.

Briley Moon led Martin's Mill with 22 points. Mollie Daniel added 19 points and was 8-of-12 shooting. Abbie Orrick recorded a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Calli Comacho chipped in with 13 points as well.

Mason (33-9), which finished with 27 turnovers, was led by Peyton Anastas, who had 14 points. Ruby Magnus added 12 points and nine rebounds, and McKenzie Cano had 10 points in defeat.
