With his junior year of high school nearing its conclusion, Texas High QB Cade Pearson has more to look forward to than just being a senior.

That's because Pearson received his first Division I scholarship offer from McNeese State, he announced via Twitter on Wednesday evening.

Pearson (6-2, 200) is a two-year starter at Texas High, having led the Tigers to a combined 15-7 record and consecutive bi-district playoff appearances in 2014 and 2015.

Last season, the Tigers' signal-caller passed for 1,673 yards with 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions. As a sophomore, Pearson threw for 1,642 yards, including 16 TDs and eight INTs.

Pearson also participated in the third annual ETSN.fm + APEC Football Recruiting Combine prior to last season, and was one of the standouts among the 19 quarterbacks in attendance.

McNeese State, an FCS school located in Lake Charles, La., competes in the Southland Conference.

The Cowboys are coached by Lance Guidry, and are coming off a 10-1 season in 2015, which included a perfect run through the conference. The season ended with a 34-29 loss to Southland rival Sam Houston State in the second round of the FCS playoffs.

Pearson, like all 2017 recruits, will be eligible to sign with the school of their choosing in February of next year.
