Monday Baseball: Whitehouse Wins District Opener Against Ennis

WHITEHOUSE -- It needed extra innings to do so, but Whitehouse escaped its district opener unscathed.

Brandon Quarles hit an RBI single with two outs in the bottom of the eighth to driven in Michael Raabe and clinch the game for the Wildcats against Ennis, 3-2.

The victory moved Whitehouse to 13-3 overall and 1-0 in District 17-5A.

Blake Beasley pitched 7.1 innings for Whitehouse before being relieved by Shelton, who pitched the rest of the game to earn the victory. Beasley had five strikeouts while Shelton finished with one.

The Wildcats next have a game 7p.m. Thursday, when they Ennis again on the road.
