New Summerfield center fielder Devin Abercrombie will play baseball well past his senior year.

Abercrombie recently signed a National Letter of Intent with Lyon College, an NAIA school in Batesville, Ark.

The Lyon College Scots finished one game back of winning the 10-team American Midwest Conference title last season with an 18-6 league record and a 39-14 record overall. Abercrombie's future program also won two games in the double-elimination first round of the NAIA baseball tournament.

Lyon College has sent a number of players to the professional baseball ranks. In June, former pitcher Griffin Glaude signed a free agent contract with the Toronto Blue Jays organization.

Abercrombie batted .410 for New Summerfield last season. This upcoming campaign will be his third year as the team's starting center fielder.

New Summerfield will begin its 2016 season in late February.
